Flowers of different hues and aromas are natural gifts for humankind. Floral absolute oils derived from exotic flowers make the world of aromas vividly fragrant. They are rich and concentrated extracts of the aromatic flowers such as the name suggests, are extracted from rose, champaca, jasmine, lavender, calendula, lily, lotus, night queen, and many more. They carry their strong characteristic mesmerizing aromas and wellness properties. Floral absolute oils ooze a soothing effect on mind and body, that’s why they are the foremost ingredients in aromatherapy blends, skincare, and hair care products.

Most flowers are very delicate and cannot go through the steam distillation process, so they are hydro-distilled or extracted using solvents. The floral absolute oils manufacturers derive the oils through solvent extraction, using external solvents such as hexane, ethanol, methanol, or petroleum and the oils contain a residue from the process. Essential oils and absolute oils differ in respect of the process of extraction and purity. Essential oils are mostly extracted by steam distillation method and with no contact of external contaminants.

Floral absolute oils such as clary sage, jasmine, mimosa, geranium, helichrysum, lavender, Roman chamomile, myrrh, carnation, and ylang-ylang are extensively used in air fresheners, perfumes, cosmetics, and aromatic blends. Most of the floral absolute oils are used for diffusion and air spray to remove foul smell. They can be used in day-to-day life in the following ways,

  • Combine any of the preferred floral oil with sweet almond oil for underarm application to remove the smell of sweat.

Every region in the world is blessed with aromatic flower plants. Some flower plants are annual - which means that they complete one growing season and die. They need to be replanted. In contrast, perennials live on for three years or more and they need to be planted only once. Some plants are biennials that grow every two years and survive for two years. However, the tropical regions have a vast variety of flowers due to varied climates and different soils. Perennial floral plants native to tropical areas are mogra, lily, bougainvillea, Asiatic lily, geranium, and many more. There is a concentration of floral absolute oil suppliers in the tropical regions due to the nearness of the source of raw material.
